RunnerUp

I told her I love her, put no one above her. She was closer to me then my own brother. But her love for another, made those feelings go under. Now I'm in second place; guess he's lightning I'm just thunder.

Sooner Than Later

Lost it once,
Just lost it again...
I can't be ur lover,
But don't wanna be friends...
With time spent,
Emotions grow...
When I gave u my heart,
I gave u my soul...
And now I don't know,
If u want either one...
So my days have gone dark,
My world has no sun...
A year and 3 months,
With a smile on my face...
Since you've been gone,
I can't find my place...
I hated u first,
Like I knew I should...
And because of the bad,
I forgot all the good...
If there's one thing I wish,
It's that I could go back in time...
To the much brighter year,
When I claimed u as mine...
You say u still love me,
And that's probably true...
But I know you should HATE me,
For what you've been thru...
I tried to be nice,
As nice as can be...
But my not so nice side,
Is all that you'd see...
I've put you through hell,
I've watched you in pain...
I've seen you get angry,
Blood rushed through your veins...
Your hurting right now,
More than you did then...
We were over before,
But this seems like the end...
There just comes a time,
When 'Im sorry' won't work...
Cuz you'll say its ok,
But bad feelings still lurk...
I gave you my heart,
That's a known fact...
I need you right now,
Please don't give it back...

As Foretold

As foretold. As expected. As predicted.

Our beautiful city is in ruin. Suffering the loss of it's hero, and no longer able to confide in it's locals. The townspeople no longer feel secure nor safe in this city. The days when they used to be able to walk the city streets with their heads held high, and their pride worn on they're sleeve are no longer existent. We've turned to a darker state. A city existing in mere shades of gray. The locals conflicted with our hero as expected. Driving him away. They conflicted with their city as well. Turning on the only thing they knew so well. The only thing they had to confide in. Now nothing remains. Nothing to remember at least. All there is, is a city inhabited by nothing more than the sounds of wind blowing thru it's empty avenues. Streets deserted, buildings abandoned. No locals, no townsfolk, no hero. With no city worth saving, no call heard, there's nothing left for our vigilante here. It's time to call it quits it seems. Our protagonist changed to our antagonist with out a clue as to how. As said before, it's our heros job to take the higher road, relieving himself of his expected duties. Time to leave behind what this city once held for him.

With no residents left, and every road vacant, our hero removes his mask as it will no longer be needed. Now, as just another civilian, he moves on. Leaving behind more then just a costume of who he was once was. He leaves behind his memories, his anxieties, his troubles, and even a small piece of his heart. All things that will remain with his damaged city. Things that are still rightfully his. Things he may come back again one day to claim. But until that day, the journey continues.

A wave of relief passes over. Now just another passerby, our former hero can blend back to society, start a new adventure, or it may even be possible that one day again he hears his call, suits up, and goes back to saving the city he once loved. Only time will tell.

Stay tuned...

Hero on the ledge

The mask had been put back on. It was time to be the hero my city needed me to be. The thing about this city tho, is she didn't need to be saved. Yet somehow, some way, the call for a hero was heard. What i ask is, why go above and beyond to call upon a hero to save you, when local help has already served and protected. Was it my city's cry for help on a different matter? Even tho local authority kept her safe, was there something normally unattainable that made her call upon me? Was it the hero image? I mean, anyone would take the adventurous route over the plain by-the-book method. It's the expected choice. Or maybe the hero is only needed to simply fill the void between ordinary and extraordinary. Either way, its when the locals conflict with the hero that makes this precious city go mad. All order is lost, all rules go out the window. A city in chaos is born and at some point, the locals turn their back upon their city, and turn a clenched fist towards the masked man intent on restoring the peace. I guess that line makes sense now. "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

And as it should be, the hero takes the higher road. With furious locals, and his irrelevant attempts at saving grace, this beautiful city cannot exist in happiness. She needs to be restored to the times before the hero was called. When it was just her and her town folk, calmly looking after one another.

As for the hero himself, he's still here. Standing atop one of the many buildings looking down on her beauty. With one foot off the ledge, the realization hits that maybe right now a hero isn't quite what she needs. So our hero takes one more step, slipping off the ledge. Its at this point I become curious to know, will he ever be recognized for the hardships he did fight thru to keep her sane over his time with her? Perhaps. But a hero doesn't do it for recognition. But simply because it's right. It's not about doing great things when people are watching that makes you the hero, its knowing that even when your alone and completely unattended, you still have the heart to do what's right. Sometimes it means your not what's right at the moment. Sometimes eliminating the problem means eliminating yourself... And in this case it's the only way to correct the issue... to die while still a hero, before the city you love sees you as the villain...
